A Tough Start in the First Inning

😟 The game didn't begin as we hoped. The first inning was a tough one for our Pirates. After Chase Meidroth of the White Sox doubled to start things off, Austin Slater walked, setting the stage for Miguel Vargas who hit a three-run homer that immediately put us in a hole. 😣 And if that wasn't enough, Mike Tauchman followed with a solo shot to make it 4-0 before we even had a chance to bat. That was certainly not the start we wished for!

A Glimmer of Hope in the Second

Our guys started to rally in the bottom of the second. Nick Gonzales doubled to left and advanced to third on an error. 🏃‍♂️ Then Oneil Cruz brought him home with a sacrifice fly to center. That at least got us on the board 1-4. Comebacks have happened from worse situations, and we were ready to see our Buccos battle back!

Settling Down but the Battle Continues

Our pitching settled down after that rough start. Credit to Ramirez and Santana for keeping the White Sox from stretching their lead further. In the fifth, though, Vargas and Tauchman struck again with more RBI hits. That took the score to 7-1.

Fighting to the End

Our bats struggled as the game went on. Andrew McCutchen gave us a glimmer of hope in the ninth inning with a double, and Nick Gonzales brought him home for another run, but unfortunately, that was all we could muster. The game ended with a 7-2 loss to the White Sox.

Summary

Despite the tough loss, there were moments of promise! While this wasn't our night, there were solid performances from some of our key players like Nick Gonzales and Andrew McCutchen. Let's regroup and come back strong next game! ❤️⚾
