A Rollercoaster Game
Well, folks, it was a wild one at Chase Field today!
Our Arizona Diamondbacks squared off against the Colorado Rockies, and goodness, what a rollercoaster it was. Though we didn't come out on top, there were plenty of moments where it felt like we had the edge.Early Lead Then Heartbreak
Things started off with the Rockies taking an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to a homer from Jordan Beck and a two-run shot by Hunter Goodman. But fear not, Diamondbacks fans, as we answered right back. Corbin Carroll got on base, promptly stole second, and then scored on a single from Ketel Marte. Our momentum continued with Eugenio Suárez and Gabriel Moreno. By the end of the 1st, we had tied it up at 3-3.
In the 2nd inning, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. came through with a clutch triple to score two, and Pavin Smith added to the tally with an RBI single. The Diamondbacks were rolling, taking a 6-3 lead!
Bats Keep Rolling But Can't Seal The Deal
Eugenio Suárez led off the 4th inning with a solo homer, and Alek Thomas followed with a dinger of his own. Perdomo and Carroll also kept the line moving to widen our lead to 10-6.However, those pesky Rockies weren't done yet. Kyle Farmer sparked a revival in the 6th inning, and they clawed back, eventually going ahead 13-11 by the 7th inning. But our boys never gave in! Josh Naylor stepped in as a pinch hitter and doubled to bring us within one, making it 13-12.
Final Stand
In the top of the 9th, Jordan Beck hit a triple scoring another for the Rockies, making it a 14-12 game. Despite a gallant effort, our boys just couldn't bridge the gap in the final inning. Corbin Carroll, Ketel Marte, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. gave it their all in our last stand, but it just wasn't enough today.Folks, it wasn't for a lack of heart. Our boys threw everything at them, and this high-scoring affair will surely go down as one of the more nail-biting games of the season. You'll get them next time, D-backs!
