Tough Loss for the Marlins
What an emotional rollercoaster for us here in Miami as we faced the Kansas City Royals. Coming into the game, we had high hopes, and although it didn’t end in our favor, we fought valiantly, especially in that nail-biting 9th inning.Royals Take Early Lead
The game started off as a pitcher’s duel, with both teams unable to score in the first three innings. Things began to unravel for our Marlins in the 4th inning when Bobby Witt Jr. and the Royals broke through. A sacrifice fly from Maikel Garcia followed by a key double-play-break from Caglianone led Kansas City to a 3-run inning. In the 5th inning, the Royals extended their lead through a pair of costly errors and a sacrifice fly, pushing the score to 6-0. Adding to the woes, Salvador Perez hit a solo homer in the 8th inning to make it 7-0.Late Marlins Rally
When we thought all hope was lost, the Marlins finally got on the board during the 9th inning. Heriberto Hernández hustled and earned a walk which got the momentum going. Xavier Edwards and Agustin Ramirez delivered back-to-back hits to cut the deficit to 7-4, putting a spark of hope in the hearts of Miami fans. Otto Lopez continued the fight with a single, but the rally attempt ultimately ended with Liam Hicks fouling out.Final Thoughts
Though the final score was 7-4 in favor of the Royals, that display in the 9th inning showcased the heart and determination of our Miami Marlins.
