Frustrating Start in the Bronx
The Los Angeles Angels started the game with high hopes, but their bats couldn't find rhythm early on. We had a promising start as Zach Neto and Willie Calhoun both drew walks in the first inning, putting pressure on the Yankees' pitcher. However, we couldn't capitalize, and Kevin Pillar ended the inning by flying out to left.Yankees Strike First
The Yankees wasted no time in showing their power. Alex Verdugo hit a ground rule double right off the bat, and after Aaron Judge walked, they started to show why they're so dangerous. Austin Wells singled to score Verdugo, and Anthony Volpe doubled, scoring Judge and giving the Yankees a quick 2-0 lead. Despite a good effort, we couldn't stop them from taking control early.Big Opportunities, No Results
In the second inning, Jo Adell singled to center putting runners on first and third with Anthony Rendon advancing to third base, but Nolan Schanuel couldn't get a hit to bring in the runs. Again, in the third inning, after working some walks, we struggled to bring anyone home.Falling Further Behind
The bottom of the second inning saw Oswaldo Cabrera hit a homer to right, extending the Yankees' lead to 3-0. Our pitching change in the fourth inning didn't swing the momentum in our favor either, as Alex Verdugo doubled to score another run and Aaron Judge singled to bring the total to 5-0.Neto Brings Some Joy
Finally, in the top of the seventh inning, Zach Neto brought some excitement back to Angels' fans with a two-run shot to left field, scoring Nolan Schanuel! It was one of those moments where you felt we might mount a comeback. Score stood at 5-2.Late Inning Struggles
The Angels' bullpen did a solid job keeping the Yankees scoreless from the sixth inning onwards, but our offense just couldn't find the spark it needed. Mickey Moniak and Jo Adell both struck out in crucial moments in the eighth inning.Final Push Falls Short
In the ninth inning, Nolan Schanuel and Zach Neto struck out looking, and Logan O'Hoppe grounded out to end the game. The Yankees' closer was just too dominant, and our bats unfortunately went silent at the worst possible time.Despite the 5-2 loss, we saw some fight out there. It's just one game, and we'll look to bounce back in the next one. Keep the faith, Angels fans! We're still in this
