Game Summary: A Tough Loss at Yankee Stadium
Oh boy, fellow Mets fans.
Early Innings: Keeping the Pace
The first inning saw our boys trying to get things going at the plate, but unfortunately, Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto, and Pete Alonso all flied out. Our buddy, Mark Vientos, caught a tough break with a fielding error that allowed Paul Goldschmidt to get on base in the bottom of the 1st. Then courtesy of a double by Aaron Judge and another by Cody Bellinger, the Yankees pulled ahead 2-0. However, in the 2nd inning, Jeff McNeil managed to drive in Vientos to put us on the scoreboard, finishing the inning 2-1.
Middle Innings: Tied Up the Game
Fast forward to the 5th inning when we tied things up!
Frustrating Eighth Inning
Oh Mets, the 8th inning was a heartbreaker. With Jasson Domínguez and Austin Wells setting the stage, errors and walks piled up, leading to the Yankees capitalizing on our missteps. A costly error by Alonso led to Domínguez scoring and the floodgates opened after a grand slam by none other than Bellinger. That crushed us, bringing the Yankees lead to 8-2.
Conclusion
Sadly, the 9th inning didn't offer any redemption as Brandon Nimmo, Brett Baty, and Francisco Alvarez were unable to spark a rally, grounding out or flying out to the dismay of Mets fans everywhere. A tough defeat in the Bronx, folks, showing once again the highs and lows of baseball. Let’s shake this one off and support our guys for the next showdown. We'll get them next time, LGM!
