Rough Start for Orioles

The first few innings set the tone for today’s game, and unfortunately, it didn’t favor us. Despite the promising infield single from Ryan Mountcastle in the bottom of the 1st, we couldn’t capitalize on it. The Nationals came out swinging aggressively with CJ Abrams launching a solo homer in the top of the 1st. The top of the 2nd saw the Nationals striking gold multiple times, with Luis Garcia Jr., Dylan Crews, and again, CJ Abrams, all taking it deep. By the end of the 2nd inning, we were in a significant 0-7 deficit. 🥺

Orioles Show Flickers of Fight Back

Though it looked bleak early on, the boys didn’t give up without a fight! In the bottom of the 5th, Cedric Mullins gave us something to cheer for, with a beautiful homer to right. 🌟 In the 6th inning, we witnessed Gunnar Henderson's solo shot and a spectacular double from Ryan O'Hearn, which Mullins converted into another run. Jackson Holliday also added to the scoreboard in the 7th with a tremendous 402-foot homer to left center. The scoreboard finally looked a little better at 4-8.

Closing out with Spirit but Not Enough

Despite a mini-rally from our side, the Nationals extended their lead with a homer by Josh Bell in the 8th and a run from James Wood in the 9th, ending the game 10-4. Though the result was not in our favor, it was heartening to see the squad like Mullins, Henderson, and Holliday putting up a fight and showcasing some power hitting. Onwards and upwards, O’s Nation - we'll get them next time! 😊⚾
