What a fantastic showing from our Cincinnati Reds as they secured a commanding 7-1 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates! From the very start, the Reds showed determination and skill on the field, much to the delight of us Reds fans. The game kicked off with a promising first inning when Elly De La Cruz walked and soon after Austin Hays drove him home with a double. The Reds' defense was on fire throughout the game. A big shoutout to our pitchers who kept the Pirates at bay with resilience and precision. The first five innings remained tense as both teams were locked in a 1-1 stalemate, but the persistent Reds shifted gears in the sixth as Gavin Lux doubled to drive in Austin Hays who had reached on an error. The eighth inning was an explosion of Reds offense and exactly what we love to see! Elly De La Cruz doubled, driving in TJ Friedl, then Austin Hays brought in De La Cruz with a single. As if that wasn't enough to seal the deal, the Reds’ thrilling performance extended into the ninth. Will Benson doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Matt McLain. Friedl and De La Cruz both delivered crucial hits that extended the Reds’ lead to a comfortable 7-1 margin. What a testament to our team’s depth and talent!
