Tough Day for the Mariners Offense
Well, fellow Mariners fans, it was a nail-biter against the Astros, but unfortunately, we came up just short with a final score of 2-1. The game started off a bit rocky with a couple of errors that allowed the Astros to jump ahead in the first inning. Our very own Bryan Woo struggled, with an erratic throwing error that allowed Jose Altuve to score and Christian Walker to make it to second. Then, Victor Caratini reached on a fielder's error by Leo Rivas at second, which brought Walker home, resulting in both runs the Astros needed to seize victory.Defensive Highlights and Missed Opportunities
On the plus side, we did have a few good defensive plays and some solid pitching through the middle innings to keep the game within reach. Our boy Julio Rodríguez was a slick presence on the field, not to mention he managed to steal second after his walk in the third inning, but unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize on it. Randy Arozarena started the charge in the second inning with an impressive triple and scored thanks to Mitch Garver's groundout, accounting for our lone run.A Tough Way to Wrap It Up
The game came to a tense close with Emmanuel Abreu and Josh Hader stepping in for the Astros to maintain their slim lead. Donovan Solano made a nice effort with a single in the ninth, giving us hope for a rally, but alas, it wasn't meant to be as pinch runner Leody Taveras couldn't shift the momentum. Despite a valiant effort, the Mariners hitters were unable to break through against Houston's bullpen. So, here's to bouncing back in our next matchup! Keep your heads up and Let’s Go Mariners!
